Taleen Kalbian, the fresh face of actor Jamie Foxx’s (who portrayed Ray Charles in the recent biopic about the legend) new record label, has been busy trying to conquer the world with her powerful vocal style and melodic hooks. The 21-year-old Armenian-American had gotten an early crack at the entertainment industry: she was singing and dancing at the tender age of 9, and started to write her own music shortly after she turned 13.

Some five years ago, Taleen was already busy working on her first video and making an appearance on ABC’s hit show ‘Switched’. The youthful starlet had also sung at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with the Washington Opera, while making solo appearances at both the White House and for the late Pope John Paul II.

On October 24, however, as the crowning achievement of her so far illustrious career, Taleen took the opening spot for megastar Christina Aguilera during her concert in Abu Dhabi. In an interview with Emirates Business prior to the show, Taleen had expressed her joy regarding the opportunity to perform ahead of such an important international artist, and revealed that she is a longtime fan of the soulful singer.

Are we witnessing the ascent of another international music attraction in Taleen that Arab and Middle Eastern youth can identify with?
