Mohammed El Helani was born on November 28, 1970, known to the large audience as Assi El Helani. He is a Lebanese singer from Hellaniyye, Baalbeck and the third youngest among his 13 brothers and sisters. Assi's musical talent became evident when as a child he was performing Lebanese songs in circle of his friends and family. He studied for approximately five years (1985-1990) at the Higher Institute of Music in Lebanon concentrating on the Oud performance and Arab vocal techniques. Assi's musical career officially started after winning the "Studio El Fann" TV Program on LBC at the age of 17.
He has released more than a dozen albums. His biggest hits are Wani Mareq Mareet, Amshi Lihali, Mali Saber, Ahebbak Gedan, Ahla Al Oyoun, Shog El Sahara, Keed Ozzalak, Forset Omor, Sghiri El Dini, Dakkat Kalbi, Yimkin(2008) and Assi 2010.
Assi is known too as "Fares Al Ghinaa Al Aarabi" since he is very fond of horses and he has his own stable in his home town. He also wrote a special song about the importance of horses and "knights" in the arab world called "Kheil Al Arab".
He's married to Colette Boulos (Miss Lebanon 1992) and has 2 kids.
