A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday knocking down buildings and killing over 100,000 people. Following the catastrophe, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to the "Doctors Without Borders" for the organization's emergency medical operations in Haiti. In a statement, the couple said, "We will work closely with our good friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter." Many stars are urging the public to donate money to help the earthquake victims in Haiti including Oprah Winfrey, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

Samar

you're absolutely right! 1 million is nothing for them. if they want to brag about it, they should have donated more!

Honestly I thinkk these two mean well and I love what Brad Pitt did for New Orleans, that being said, why do they feel the need to issue a statement in regards to what they donated?
They need to get a new publicist. Sandra Bullock I read donated 1 million as well as Lady Gaga donated her concert proceeds directly to the Haiti foundation as well as Gisele Brady donated $1.5 million. Mick Jagger will be doing a concert which wil be discussed Monday. Wycel Jean the musician has donated and spent several days in plans with for the relief of his country. Madonna as well as contributed. I do not comprehend why this pair feels the need to publicly announce their donations? I understand she is an ambassador but why not keep it private? they are already commenting to US Weekly & other trash publications on their views and comments of this terrible travesty that happened here. I also read they are worth over $280 million in net profit. Why not donate 5 million then? I would or the average american or non-american person would if we had the money or resources, but personally I would not advertise this. Just my opinion. I am getting a bad taste for Brangelina & always being in the spotlight when tragedy strikes and only hearing their story and not other fellow actors who have contributed.

To the average person, $1,000,000.00 is a lot of money. I read a recent article that between Brad and Angela they earned 217 million dollars last year alone. In one year! To this couple $1,000,000 is pocket change. If they donated half of their income last year - say $110,000,000 I might be impressed. Instead they donate an amount of money that would have zero impact on them and then try to rally all their 'fans' to dig deep and come up with more cash.
Can you imagine only having kept $117,000,000 last year after making such a large donation? Gee how would we get by!
