As News Corp Kicks In, Rotana Heads Towards Professionalism!
After selling 20% of its shares to global media group News Corp as mentioned in a previous article on Wikeez, Rotana Records is heading towards higher levels of professionalism to meet up with international standards. Unlike the expectations of many Arab artists, the new Al Walid- Murdoch deal is not just a way to resolve financial problems but rather a major improvement in managerial skills. The basic idea is to switch from the classical Arab management pattern that is very much based on favoritism into a rather professional one that would only reward an artist according to his/her own revenue. In other words, the company will henceforth only collaborate with artists who can cover their expenses or just terminate peacefully the contract! This definitely also means no more press conferences or lavish launch parties unless an artist suggests paying for them from his/her own personal account.
Will Arab stars comply positively with the new standards or will the next months witness more celebrities leaving the company?
