Rania Al Yassin was born on 31 August 1970 in Kuwait and she completed her primary and secondary education there. In 1991, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo. She worked in banking and information technology before getting married to his Majesty King Abdullah, then Prince, on 10 June 1993. She is now the mother of 4 children. She has pushed for more rights for women and children in the region and education reform, fighting for better school facilities and mandatory English language training in Jordan. She was ranked 81st in the Forbes 2005 100 most powerful women of the world list and she was the youngest queen in the world at the time King Abdullah succeeded to the throne.
