Self-styled experts proclaim that ancient Maya prophets foretold an earth-shattering will occur on December 21, 2012. Malek Maktabi hosted one of these experts, the author of “In Apocalypse 2012”, Lawrence Joseph. In his book Lawrence claims that this phenomenon will come as an ecological collapse, a sunspot storm, a rare cosmic conjunction of the earth, sun, and the galactic center and a sudden reversal of the Earth's magnetic field. Malek also hosted people who are convinced that the world will end in 2012, to the extent that one of the guests said that she left her fiancé because she doesn’t want to have a family knowing that the end of the world is near. This belief came after watching the movie “2012" , which distorts the message of this ancient prophecy by associating it with fear and destruction. But actually, and according to archaeologists, art historians, and to the Doctors who appeared on Ahmar Bel Khat Al Arid last night, the Maya's never said that the world will end in 2012. According to the Mayan prophecy the time period of the world as we know it is divided into five cycles of 5,124 years and we are almost at the end of the fifth and final cycle. The date December 21, 2012 marks the completion of the final cycle. This cycle is followed by the start of a new cycle which is about beginnings; it signifies the creation of a new world and a new era that holds the themes of transformation and renewal to a better world.
