Season 9 of American Idol premiered on January with Ellen Degeneres replacing permanently Paul Abdul in the judging panel which includes Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi . The show also opened up with a new format which has four contestants going home for three consecutive weeks, until the Top 12 are reached. Only 16 contestants are left after we witnessed last week the elimination of Haeley, Jermaine, Michelle, and John by the vote of the American audience. According to the judges this year the winner of American Idol is going to be a girl since the season holds too many talented woman.
